Ogre Painting Update

Hit my first target of completing the painting of the bases for 3 Bulls and 3 Ironguts by the 22nd March.

Slight change of plan I am going to paint the remaining 3 Leadbelchers, 3 Ironguts and 2 Irongut standard bearers all together by the 3rd May, this still fits in with my original plan. Thats six weekends, by which time I would have purchased my two Maneaters and an additional Hunter.

Painting Ogres need a plan

The painting of my Ogre Kingdom army is taking longer than I hoped. I haven't picked up a paint brush in the past three weeks. So therefore I need a plan of attack. Apart from varnishing this is what I have outstanding.

3 Bulls and 3 Ironguts to paint the bases
3 Leadbelchers to complete painting on
3 Ironguts to complete painting on
2 Irongut standard bearers to complete painting on
2 Hunters to build and paint
2 Maneaters to build and paint

I have set myself a target of 21th June to complete the painting of my full 2500 point army. That gives me 14 weeks to complete, that is 1 Ogre a week!

I have broken this down into manageable and achievable targets

3 Bulls and 3 Ironguts to paint the bases by 22nd March
3 Leadbelchers to complete painting by 5th April
3 Ironguts to complete painting by 19th April
2 Irongut standard bearers to complete painting by 3rd May
2 Hunters to build and paint by 24th May
2 Maneaters to build and paint by 14th June
Varnish and basing completed by 21st June

That will mean that is has taken me about a year to build and paint a 2500 point Ogre Kingdom army.

My Daemon Prince

I have always liked the Be'Lakor miniature from Games Workshop. Even though the Daemon Prince has a few short comings I will still be including this miniature in my Warriors of Chaos army.

I have now designed a Level 4 Sorcerer Daemon Prince costing 555 points!

The main problem with a Daemon Prince is that it doesn't have access to any Magic Items, therefore no access to Dispel Scrolls or Magic Attacks.

So to overcome this problem I have also included a Level 2 Sorcerer equipped with the Infernal Puppet, this should help keep the Deamon Prince alive.

Another options would be to also include another Level 1 Sorcerer equipped as a Scroll Caddy to aid in Magic Defence.

Chapel Building I

I thought that I would start an individual blog on building and painting the Chapel Building.

First picture on the building constructed and ready for priming.

Constructions was pretty much straight forward, used a couple of elastic bands to hold the building together while the glue set.

Warhammer Fantasy FAQ II

Q. Can models get a better save than 0+ (i.e. a negative armour save)?

A. Yes, this is possible in theory, but certainly not easy to achieve!

Q. Can you allocate attacks to specific enemy Rank and File models in order to force which enemy Rank and File models count as casualties (and are thus unable to fight back)?

A. Yes, however we have to warn you that zooming in to a fight to this level of detail is likely to make resolving your fights a very slow process indeed!

Ogre Kingdoms FAQ

Q. Does the phrase “fired exactly like a bolt thrower” mean that armour saves are not allowed for hits from a Harpoon Launcher and each model wounded by it sustains D3 wounds? Does it mean that a Harpoon Launcher is move-or-fire, and the Hunter is allowed to pivot on the spot, without penalty, prior to firing a Harpoon Launcher?

A. Yes in all cases. The Harpoon Launcher allows no armour saves, inflicts D3 wounds, is move-or-fire, and the Hunter may pivot before firing (provided he is not accompanied by Sabretusks).

Warriors of Chaos FAQ

Q. Are Daemon Princes Daemons for the purpose of Burning Gaze, Cleansing Flare, and other such effects?

A. Yes, they are Daemons for these purposes.

Q. Are Daemon Princes that are given magic levels equipped with Chaos Armour?

A. No, they are not.

Antenociti's Workshop

I found this company on the internet whilst searching for some matt varnish. They sell a massive range of scratch building, brushes, flock and other basing products. The website says 1123 products and counting.

At the moment only purchased some cans of Testors Dull Cote. The service was excellent. I will be using this company a lot more in the future.

KaiserRushforth

I needed some foam trays for my Ogre army, after looking at the GW cases I found that they were only really suitable for 20-25mm bases, not Ogre 40mm bases. I had a dig around on the internet and discovered an excellent supplier of transport cases and foam trays.

KaiserRushforth Ltd are a company based in Colchester, Essex, UK.

At the moment I have only purchased some foam trays and have to say the quality of product and service is excellent. Their products include card and aluminum transport cases, spare trays to fit both their cases and GW cases. The trays come in various sizes and depths, suitable for any size of miniature.

Chapel Building

My wife bought me the Warhammer Chapel for Valentines Day 2009. I will be taking a break from painting my Ogres to build and paint.

This will fit nicely into my plans for building a gaming table at home with some scenery pieces. Now have to get some hills, trees and may be the watch tower or arcane runes.

Chaos Marauders

Chaos Marauders were my third core unit added to my Warriors of Chaos army.  

These were painted back in autumn 2007.

Chaos Furies

Next I added a unit of six Chaos Furies. Ideal for taking out enemy war machines.

Alas these are now no longer allowed in the new Warriors of Chaos army.

Chaos Battle Standard Bearer

A Warriors of Chaos Battle Standard Bearer.

The banner was inspired by the over sized banners in the Hordes of Chaos army book.

The model is a converted Chaos Warrior.

Games Workshop released a similar miniature which can be seen in the new Warriors of Chaos Army Book, but the miniature is no longer on sale. So I had to create and convert my own miniature.

The close up shots are the best I can do with my current camera.

This miniature was originally an Aspiring Champion in my old 1000 point Hordes of Chaos Army. Now will be an Exalted Champion in my new Warriors of Chaos Army. Could even be used as a standard bearer for my Undivided Chaos Warriors unit.
