Painting Ogres Update

I have now completed painting all my built Ogres (1 Tyrant, 1 Butcher, 9 Bulls, 11 Ironguts and 6 Leadbelchers). I now just have varnishing and basing to complete on the painted miniatures, plus painting of a few Gnoblars to add to the bases. I now only have to build and paint two Hunters and two Maneaters, then my 2500 point Ogre army is complete. This takes me 1 week ahead of schedule.

Once varnishing and basing is complete I will be posting pictures of the complete army.

Bad Dice Podcast

Bad Dice is the UK’s first Warhammer podcast. The Hosts of the show are Ben Curry and Ben Johnson. Bad Dice tends to focus on news and reviews of UK Tournaments. The podcast has not been up and running for very long, episode 6 is currently the latest version. I did like the tactics section on episode 5, and also the advice of how to beat Daemons in episode 6. Looking forward to hearing more from these guys in the future.

I have got to say this is probably the best forum for Warhammer Fantasy (especially for the UK) on the internet. Plenty of Warhammer Fantasy advice on any topic you could think of. Plus information on the up and coming tournaments and events in the UK.

Maelstrom Games

I have only purchased an Ogre Hunter from this company at the moment, and will be using this retailer again in the future. I found the service to be excellent, especially after being sent the incorrect miniature on my very first order. They have the widest range of miniatures, paints and products than most of the retailers I have come across.

Worlds End Radio

Another Australian podcast covering Warhammer Fantasy Battles. The difference between Podhammer and Worlds End Radio is that these guys cover all the Games Workshop games Warhammer Fantasy, 40K, Lord of The Rings, Blood Bowl, and the others.

Worlds End Radio have been running since August 2008. The hosts of the show are Luke Retallack, John 'JJ' Layfield and various special guests. Its a very informative podcast, not as entertaining as Podhammer which tends to go off topic more often. I have learn't a lot listening to this podcast, and found some inspiration for my Ogre Kingdoms army as well.

Podhammer

Podhammer was the very first Warhammer Fantasy podcast, and to my knowledge the first wargamming podcast. It has been running since August 2007.

I started listening from around episode 15 and have been an avid listener ever since. Its the best Warhammer Fantasy podcast available for Warhammer content and especially entertainment value.

Podhammer is the brain child of Jeff Carroll an Australian, Jeff fronts the shows along with regular co-hosts Matt Cole and the legendary Dave Palmer. If you have listened to the show you will know what I mean describing Dave Palmer as legendary.

At the Podhammer is on indefinate hiatus, but a couple of Aussies including Trent Denison who hosts A Dogs Breakfast have taken over hosting a few episodes on behalf of Jeff. I hope Jeff all the best for the future and hope to hear him back on the podcast.

Chariot Pulled by Dragons

I have this idea of a Chaos Dragon pulling a flying chariot for a Chaos Lord or Chaos Sorcerer on a Dragon for my Warrior of Chaos army.  I found an artical on Medea, a chararacter from greek mythology.

It will probably be contructed form Galrauch and a Chaos Chariot.  The character either a Chaos Lord or Chaos Sorcerer will ride in the flying chariot behind Galrauch.

Medea was King Aeetes of Cholchis's daughter, a sorceress and devotee to Hecate, who became the hero Jason's wife.

After she had fled to Athens in a chariot pulled by dragons, Medea married king Aegeus, Theseus father. At an attempt to poison Theseus she was discovered, and had to flee to Asia, where she became the queen of her own people, the Medes.

According to the historian Herodotos Medea was a real woman who was kidnapped by the Greeks. For this reason the Trojans took their revenge and kidnapped Helen, which led to the Trojan War.

Little Metal Men

I have only purchased a Ogre Maneaters from this company, but found the service to be excellent.

They are the only on-line retailer I have found that allows you to order a specific kinds of blister pack.

All the other on-line retailers say that the miniature contained in the blister will be a random model, which is rubbish when you are looking for a specific miniature.

I wanted the Orge Maneater Pay Master miniature, which other retailer could not supply (not even Little Metal Men, apparently it is de-listed).  A trip to Warhammer World will probably be required to see if I can acquire the Orge Maneater Pay Master.

Warhammer World

My first visit to Warhammer World in Nottingham was back in December 2006 before I got into the hobby, it was more of an accident that I found it. My son Tyler wanted some Space Marines for christmas presents along with the Battle for Skull Pass. So working in Nottingham, I looked around for the local Games Workshop store and found one located in Lenton, just down the road from where I worked.

I didn't appreciate that I was going to Games Workshop HQ until I arrived. I remember walking into the main hall and asking if there was a shop, only to be told behind you. The staff were very helpful, gave them a list and they got all the stuff. Then I spent the next hour walking around the Citadel Miniatures Hall and having a drink in Bugmans Bar. It was the Citadel Miniatures Hall that inspired me to take up painting miniatures again, along with playing a lot of Battle for Skull Pass
over christmas of 2006.

Legendary Battles

Playing Massive Multiplayer Games of Warhammer

A Legendary Battle is a special type of Warhammer game that takes place between two teams of two or more players, with each team of players commanding an army of 5,000 points or more. Note that it's not each player who has to have an army of this size - it's each side. So two players, one with a 2000 point army and another with a 3000 point army, could fight as a team in Legendary Battles.
